▶ Your Answer :
In
every society and organizations, there are dominant ideas. People are used to
those ideas. Based on those ideas, social or organizational policies are made.
In the situation where dominant ideas are firmed, accepting new idea is not
easy. Some people can say that it is not difficult to accept not practicing new
idea but only accepting new ideas. I admit that accepting new ideas is easier
than practicing the ideas. However accepting new ideas is also possible through
struggle.
In
our history, there are a lot of examples showing that accepting new ideas is
difficult. One of them is adopting new scientific result. In scientific world,
there are existing potent theories. New ideas should show that existing
theories are fallacious. For example, in the past, people believed that sun
evolve around the earth. It was a sort of axiom. In this cognitive
circumstance, Galliao’s theory asserting the earth evolves the sun was not
accepted. After amount of evidences had been presented by diverse scholars,
people finally accepted earth evolving theory. The process of accepting new
idea was possible by lots of efforts by outstanding scholars. And several of
them were devoted to their lives for assert the truth. Accepting new ideas was not
easy thing but long struggle.
Practicing new ideas is more difficult than
accepting ideas. Because there are lots of barriers resisting to practice new
ideas. It is because practicing new ideas causes change of society or
organizations. It can make some groups reduce their interest. For instance,
many wealthy people resist to expand welfare policies. Because they don’t
experience any trouble without welfare policies but they should pay more tax to
execute those policies. Practicing new ideas is power game. People who already
seize large proportional social resource don’t want any change. People who want
to practice new ideas should overcome powerful people.
Another example showing the practicing new
ideas is expanding democratic process. In the past, minor people can only
participate in voting system. Black people didn’t have right to vote. When
black people demand their right to vote, society that was dominated by write
people resisted. Through far-reaching protest and outstanding pioneers’
efforts, society finally practiced new idea that every citizens have right of
voting regardless their color or income. After that point, human right of black
people has been improved. Because policies protecting black people from
discrimination have been adopted. This example shows that practicing new idea
means change of power or distribution of social resource, dominant forces
resist to practicing new idea.
Accepting new idea is difficult. Because
people believe existing ideas and they regard new idea strange things. However
more difficulty is practicing new idea. Because practicing new idea can change
order of society or organization and powerful people resist it. Both accepting
and practicing new ideas are power struggle.
