▶ Your Answer :
It is generally accepted that a number of
students are not voluntarily engaged in community service since they think that
it would not improve their grades. Therefore, some people argue that volunteer
work should be mandatory program at high school. I firmly agree that it is need
for high school students to be compulsory program.
To begin with, in the highly competitive
society, it is no deny that students are busy studying for their future such as
getting into college and looking for a job. To illustrate this, statistic from National Statistical Office shows that they
spend their most of the time studying without enough sleeping time. Because of
this, if unpaid community service prgrammes are obligation, they might suffer
from excessive burdens. Therefore, it is clear that there are number of drawbacks
of voluntary work to high school students.
On the other hand, in spite of common
belief, some people claim that community service is vital to teenagers even
though they have to compromise some of their valuable time because it can
provide priceless lessons for them which schools cannot. According to a
newspaper article, those who have social voluntary community service
experiences are high probability of the competitive edge. Moreover, social
community service has positive impact on not only individual but also society.
That is, as they have highly possibility to be reasonable voters, it makes
society be better.
In conclusion, work for supporting neighbours in the community is not
disadvantageous but beneficial to both each student and the society. All
students should be obligated to attend at volunteering programmes at the high
school. |
