Some people argue that many people treat
festivals as opportunities to take a rest and have fun without any attempts to
know the true meaning behind conventional or religious festivals. While I agree
that people think festival are chances for enjoyment. I disagree people have forgotten
what these festival means.
On the other hand, people have great time
to have fun with their family during holidays, such as Korea thanks giving day,
new-year day, and Christmas. During the holidays, they head to their hometown
in order to visit their family and sibling with full of gifts on both hands. They
can be away from their routine which is stressful with many tasks and they can
also spend quality time together by preparing foods and drinks, giving and
receiving presents, and playing traditional games. Thus a family reunion can
relieve strain and stress caused by overwork and competition in city life.
However, I disagree that the important
meaning of traditional festivals has fade away. For example, on Korea thanks
giving day, my family is very busy so that we prepare foods and drinks. We wake
up at crack of dawn and express honor and thanks to ancestors by following
conventional ceremony. In fact, there are many families like us in Korea. In addition,
during holidays, government holds a variety of festival for celebrating and
memorializing special occasions, such as Korea independent day, Korea war, Buda-birthday
and so on. Many citizens participate in festivals and museums with children and
they can have a great time to remember real meaning of festivals.
In conclusion, it may be true that people
consider the holidays as opportunities to have fun and take a rest. However, we
cannot conclude that people have disregarded the value of conventional and
religious festivals. |
