▶ Your Answer :
The primary purposes of early education are
not only learning academic knowledge but also forming personality through
trials and errors with their classmates. As the school is the small form of
society, where children can learn and prepare themselves before becoming
adults, the harmony between the academic and social experiences are of importance.
At this point the parents, whom have the closest relationship with their
children, have significant influences on their education. Unfortunately,
however, due to too much pressures and expectations of the parents, some
children have difficulties in carrying out proper education. In this regard,
since those distorted attention of parents can have deprive opportunities to
enjoy and find their aptitude from the children, parents need to be wise when
it comes to the education of their children.
Academic learning is not the only way of
success. All individuals have their own interests and different talents. While some
children like study academically, others show talents in sports or arts. These
differences make the society better by providing diversity. Nevertheless, as
the school in modern society tends to compare the educational success of their
students heavily relying on academic achievement, many parents become obsessed
with their children’s academic performances. Although it is true that parents
try to advise their children from their social experiences for good purposes. As
everyone has different characteristics and talents, however, even between the
parents and their children have differences. Therefore, too much pressure or
advices that are focused on parent’s viewpoints sometimes can harm the
motivation of their children in learning. If children are forced to perform the
education in a wrong way that does not fit their talents or interests, parents,
who supported and advised for their children can be the target of blame and
criticism.
Parents are not the player of their
children’s education. Parents often have misunderstanding about their children
that making a mistake or carrying out low performances on the education have
negative effects on their children’s future. Since children lack experiences
and knowledge, it is undeniable that advices from the parents can contribute to
their children’s temporary success. However, the most important part of
education that can lead to the success in long-run is letting children know
that the final decision maker is themselves and therefore the corresponding responsibility
is theirs. By doing so, even if the outcome is unsatisfactory at first,
children can realize how to behave responsibly and the importance of finding
their talents and interests. Through trials and errors, they can understand
what their strengths to develop are and weaknesses to supplement. According to
the old saying that the lions teach their offspring how to hunt rather than
hunting for them.
To sum up, the utmost important goal of
education is providing children with chances to learn what they can truly
enjoy. Since too much pressure and expectation from their parents, who have
different characteristics and talents, can demotivate their children’s learning
experiences, parents should play a role as advisors in their children’s
education.
