Nowadays, as mass media has developed, celebrities' privacy has been exposed to the public who are curious about their lives behind the screen. Although it is understandable desires for common people, I would believe although it can be understandable desires, invading the privacy of famous individuals can be harmful to them and we should respect their lives.
To begin with, it is clearly true there are a large number of compelling stories about famous people such as actors, singers and politicians, which includes their marriage or children. Reporters who follow them 24/7 publish their pictures or articles about new intriguing events on the media to attract audience. Some of celebrities might like and enjoy this phenomenon. They release more attention-grabbing pictures or stores by themselves through social media like Facebook, therefore they can obtain popularity.
However, the drawbacks are obvious and they should not be neglected. First of all, we should respect well-known people's freedom that is one of the human rights because they are human beings just like other citizens. They have the right to enjoy their lifestyles that they purse whit their family or on their own out of spotlights. If a famous actor, for example, are allowed to take a rest at home without any distraction of the followers could be boosting their ability to satisfy viewers on a television or cinema. In addition, it is often said that many celebrities are suffering from mental problems due to a lot of pressure. One news article released by Josun press in 2013 about a popular Korean actress who failed to overcome depression and ended up committing suicide made public people shocked.
In conclusion, for the reasons mentioned above, I would argue that the privacy of celebrities should be considered valuable and protected for both their career and their private lives. |
