These
days, it is hard to find children who do not use smart phones. Some people
think that using mobile phones has many benefits for children. However, I
firmly believe that it has more fatal drawbacks.
On
the one hand, one evident merit is that smart phones can become helpful
learning tools. The device has various functions such as reference books,
dictionary and workbooks. Children can usefully utilize and apply them. It is a
natural thing that children’s educational tools develop as the times change. Moreover,
mobile phones can be in charge of communicating between children and parents. If
they are injured, in pain and in danger, they must be able to call their
parents. Also, by using a special application, parents can check where their
children are. It becomes one measure of protecting children from potential
emergencies.
Nevertheless,
I support the idea that using mobile phones is harmful to children. Firstly,
one of the main disadvantages is addictiveness. Children are too young to have
self-controls. So, they are easily addicted to the mobile phones. According to
a researcher, it reveals that the smart phone addiction causes eye damages,
difficulty concentrating and memory loss. Secondly, cellphone radiation has a
bad impact on children’s growth. The World Health Organization has ever
published that the electromagnetic waves lead to cancer. In addition, in a
specific thesis, children absorb twice the cellphone radiation to their heads
and as much as 10times more in their bone marrow when compared to adults.
To
sum up, while it is apparent that the mobile phones can informingly be used to
study and become conversation means for children, it is undeniable that the
smart phone addiction and the electromagnetic waves are terrible demerits. |
