SUMMARY:
Responsible for the scheduling of all incineration
system projects, monitoring and controlling the progress and costs on each
project, ensuring that projects are completed on schedule and in line with
customer specifications

$10 to $20 million in annual project

million in project responsibility with 2 to 5 projects at any
time
RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES:
• Review customer design specifications and the
company’s proposals to ensure conformity and the validity of the project scope
and design; make necessary adjustments in design and scope and prepare letter of
intent to outline the revised scope of supply
• Assess job requirements, determine personnel
assignments required for project completion, including drafting, instrumentation
engineering, applications engineering and manufacturing personnel, and provide
assigned personnel with relevant instructions and portions of the specifications
and projects proposal; prepare and provide the project schedule and budgeted
house to various disciplines
• Monitor and expedite the progress of the project in
relation to the schedule and prepare periodic progress reports for the
customer
• Ensure system design changes are made to comply with
revisions or alterations in specifications by the
customer
• Ensure general arrangement drawings of the process and
instrumentation, make necessary corrections or changes in line with the system
design, especially those pertaining to structure and connections, and issue
drawings to the customer for approval
• Monitor changes in drawings to determine the impact on
design, cost and schedule; prepare addendums to purchase orders to communicate
pricing adjustments to customer; review certified final drawings from drafting
and provide copies to the customer
• Determine the requirements for fabrication of the
mechanical, piping and electrical components by outside vendors, prepare bid
packages and solicit bids from alternative sources and select the successful
vendor
• Prepare the fabrication schedule for the fabrication
vendor and release the project to the vendor
• Review and approve detailed fabrication
drawings/blueprints from drafting or from the fabrication vendor to ensure
conformance with general arrangement drawings; make necessary
adjustments/corrections
• Monitor the fabrication process weekly, expedite
progress including resolving technical questions or issues pertaining to the
materials to be used in the fabrication; and coordinate final inspection of the
system
• Review crafting and shipping specifications and
instruction, especially for overseas shipments, select the appropriate
transportation company, and prepare related instructions regarding packing and
shipping for the carrier
• Prepare the operating and maintenance manual for the
customer, including the design summary, operation and start-up procedures,
refractory application schedule, specifications sheet, final drawings and vendor
literature
• Prepare specifications for the purchase of vendor
provided equipment, including blowers and pumps; prepare associated requests for
quotations; review quotes from equipment vendors to ensure compliance with
customer specifications and make vendor selection
• Function as the key primary contact for the customer
and liaison to vendors and interoffice department personnel, respond to all
issues regarding all aspects of the project including process, instrumentation
and controls, structural and mechanical design, purchasing, fabrication,
specification interpretation and determining applicable code requirements.
Negotiate project scope commercial changes with the customer and processes
budgetary changes associated with the impact of scope changes on project
costs
• Field questions from construction personnel at the
jobsite regarding equipment erection assemblies, missed parts and damaged
components, assist directly with equipment start-up operator
training
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Chemical
Engineering
• At least 5 years experience in the manufacture and
fabrication, operation or testing of process equipment, especially equipment
used in refineries and petro-chemical plants. Experience in an operating plant
is desirable.
