▶ Your Answer :
Today’s world is
changing at a rapid place influencing economy, fashion and more. Accordingly, standpoints
on doing volunteer work also altered extremely. Some people allege that an
increased number of avenues for doing volunteer work resulted in young people
spending more time in helping others. Nonetheless, others are dubious about the
argument and assert that recently young people are busy utilizing time for
themselves instead of communities. Contemplating both arguments, it seems that nowadays
people give enough time to help their communities and there are two essential
reasons to support the assertion.
To begin with, teenagers today must do voluntary work for a specific
amount of time. These days, doing voluntary work for communities became a
necessary curriculum for whole students. Thus, without satisfying a designated amount
of time for helping others, fulfilling the school assignments and entering good
universities is almost out of question. Therefore, compared to the past when volunteer
work was optional, teenagers nowadays do more voluntary works as a part of
obligation. For example, in our school, students must go to retirement home and
help elderlies or the sick for three days during winter vacation. Furthermore,
once a week, whole students at school go out to teach Korean to young children
from multicultural family or pick up the trash near polluted river or mountains.
Due to the school rule, students spend large amount of their time in aiding
other people.
In addition to,
young people can easily assist societies through the development of science
technology. The phenomenal advance in science technology opened the epoch of personal
computer. By utilizing computer and other electronic devices such as cell
phones, young people can effortlessly help other people without having to waste
time and energy on moving to a designated volunteer place. As a consequence,
even people who have too much on their plate can help communities without any
time restrictions or burden. Therefore, people are bound to spend more time on
voluntary work than before. For example, some doctors who suffer from hectic
schedule and overload can monitor elderlies’ health condition through computer
monitors. By using the monitoring system, doctors no longer have to visit all
the elderlies’ house to look after them. As a result, doctors can use their
time more efficiently and can look after individuals more frequently.
In lights of these explanations, it seems
that young people nowadays give enough time helping communities than the past.
This is not only because volunteer work became one of school’s curriculum but
also because development of science technology fostered easier avenue to help
others.
