▶ Your Answer :
Some people think that children cannot make decisions without their
parents. However, in my opinion, it is better for children to make decisions
themselves. There are two reasons: First, processing with their problems in
person makes children get many experiences. Second, children can strengthen
their competitiveness in society later.
To begin with, making a
decision allows children obtain valuable experiences and be self-confident. I
believe experience is one of the most essential factors of success in today’s
world. Imagine that children only have textbook knowledge. Their views will be
so narrow. By deciding their problems in person, they can not only gain diverse
experience but also broaden their horizon of the world. For example, a study was
conducted by the Board of Education to determine whether various experience could
affect their self-confidence. There were two groups monitored. The first group
was formed of children who receive their parents’ helps whenever they make a
decision. They were asked to take a test to measure their level of self-confidence.
The other groups consisted of children who try to resolving their tasks
themselves and were given the same direction. An overwhelming 73 percent of
children who are included the latter group replied that they have more higher
confident and they are satisfying. This was because the experience through
solving the problems makes them more satisfy.
On top of that, it enables
children to strengthen competitiveness in later society. Interestingly, a renowned
social scientist in South Korea published an article in “The Korean Herald”
last Tuesday which claims that 82 percent of 300 Korean leading recruiters
prefer people who can make decisions themselves without the help of others.
Recruiters show such a tendency because they tend to be more creative and
analytical. In the long-run, creativity and critical thinking enhance their work
performance, which results in job promotions. I thought of this report because
the results of the survey resonated with my thoughts.
To
sum up, I believe children can make decisions slowly but surely without the
help of their parents for the following reasons: being able to obtain
experiences in this process and strengthening competitiveness in future
society. Consequently, the importance of my view cannot be underestimated for
the reasons I have mentioned above. |
