▶ Your Answer : It is evident that having a close friend and keeping a friendship is of tremendous importance in our daily life. Some people might think that competition between friends helps to bring a good result. I, however, strongly believe that there are always negative effects on friendship if friends have to compete frequently. There are two reasons to support my ideas.
First of all, competition among friends usually has a negative effect. On the other hand, A friendship which is built on the trust could not be destroyed easily otherwise it could be. Once crashed friendship is hard to get back to normal. When I was a child I had a really close friend who is lived near my house. But, ever since we become elementary students we had to compete in every subject in school. Both parents and us were concerned about the results of school projects such as tests, drawings and activities scores. After that my friendship was not as close as it was in the past because we were not used to competing with each other. After time passed, we had an invisible distance between me and her and never back to close as before. This example shows that even close friendships might break got after the competition.
Second, friendships without competition show higher achievement. A really famous proverb says that if you want to go faster, you can go on your way by yourself, but if you want to go further, you should better go with your team. A study conducted by the Korean university revealed that teamwork results among friends in double digits higher than individual competition. Without competition, individuals in the team could achieve their goals more successfully. However, individuals with competition could not prove their abilities because of stressful situations. This research told us that in order to get a high achievement, we should work together without competing.
