▶ Your Answer : Recently, the
size of fashion market is getting bigger than ever before. Many people are
interested in what to wear. However, some people think that the clothes a
person wears does not affect his or her behavior. In my opinion, the clothes a
person wears definitely affect a person’s behavior. This is mainly because clothes
create social expectation and effect on the mood of a person. First of all,
there are variety of uniforms. This is attributable to the fact that people tend
to expect relevant behaviors according to what people wear and the expectation
a person gets will limit their behavior. A recent statistical study conducted by
Kim et al. (2018) has revealed that police officers tend to act more morally when they are in the uniforms. To be specific, among 50 cases of total crimes occurred
by the police officers, only 5 cases were occurred when the officers were in their
uniforms. The other 45 cases were occurred when they were not in their uniforms.
Furthermore, a supplementary questionnaire conducted against police officers
have revealed that 75% of police officers tend to feel sort of social pressure and
behave more discreetly when they are in their uniforms. This indicates that what
people wear surely affects a person’s behavior.
Secondly,
people are likely to feel differently depending on what they wear. This is because
the composition of a fabric, thickness, colors, etc. of a cloth affects the feeling
of a person who is wearing. In case of the sport wears, they have special evaporating function
to keep people in adequate temperature. This is because, when a sports wear lack
of such function, people will get irritated with dampened clothes and their performance
will decreased. In my experience, whenever I wear a suit, I feel like I am one
of the 007 and this makes me feel special, and I actually act like I am the
one of a movie star. These examples illustrate that clothes make people to feel
differently, and as a result, behave differently depending on what they wear.
In
summary, not only social expectations but also atmospheres are induced by what people
wear and this makes people to behave differently. |
