▶ Your Answer :
Since the Industrial Revolution, lots of
industries have become consolidated and centralized. Nowadays, it is not
exaggeration to say that machines work more than people. However, some people argue
that it is better to do work by hand than machine. In my opinion, it is better
to do work by machine than hand. This is mainly because using machine is more
cost-effective and safe.
First
of all, machines are more cost-efficient than humans. This is attributable to
the fact that once machines are equipped in a certain industry, it only
requires cost for its maintenance. In contrast, hiring workers costs a lot more
since they got to get paid until they quit the job. This would be worth it if
humans are more efficient worker than machines, but unfortunately, this is not
the case in most of the industries. Recently, a toy company, Toys R Us,
reported that total production of a certain toy, a Legobob, has increased by 50%
when the company converted their production line to a complete machinery
production line. This indicates that, considering financial costs and work
performances, using machines is a much better way than hiring workers.
Secondly, there
are no risks of people getting hurt or even dying when machines work for humans.
This is due to the fact that there are lots of industries which possess quite
dangerous working environments. A recent statistical study conducted by the
Korean government revealed that among 50,000 people who work in construction
industry, 5,000 people get injured and 1,000 people die every year. In addition,
it was proved that 80% of accidents were caused by a careless behavior of
workers. This illustrates that when workers in the risky environments are
replaced with machines, it will be possible to reduce and prevent these
accidents. In summary, employing machines at working area will
protect humans from unintended accidents and enhance productivity as well. In
this regard, I strongly recommend of using machines over using hands. |
