recommendation from friends, information from magazines, and reviews from
online communities. Both sides have their own reasons to support their views.
However, if I have to choose one, I would like to say that people will consider
reviews from online communities as a top priority. There are several reasons as
follows.
To begin with, after emerging the Internet era, people are more likely
to be exposed themselves to the Internet no matter where they work or live. Such
exposure encourages people to consider more about what the common view of
individuals, to take care of reviews from power bloggers, and ultimately to be
affected by the voices from the Internet. This trend has become accelerated
after the invention of smartphone, leading people to access information easily.
For instance, when I was in college, I saw a friend wearing a shiny
green-colored coat. At the first time, I thought he was ridiculous, so I kept
my distance from him and even made fun of him. On the other hand, when I found
a picture of the coat that one celebrity wore on and many people made their
thumbs up on the picture, my previous thought was rapidly changed. In
particular, I realized that I had a one-sided mind that I did not understand
different taste exists while I carefully read on other people’s comments.
Finally, I changed my mind about the coat and even bought one green-colored
coat as well. This experience showed how the opinions from the Internet
actually affect to the people’s purchase, especially for expensive one.
In addition, the reviews from online communities allow people to think
neutrally. In other words, people can listen to a wide array of opinions,
offered by different age groups, people from all over the world, and people who
have various tastes. This wide variety of opinions prevents people from a
biased thought that could be offered by their close friends, so people tend to think the reviews from online are beneficial.
All things considered, reviews from online communities play a
significant role in people’s major purchase. As long as people are living in
the Internet era and acknowledge the benefit of the Internet, it is no doubt
that people look over the Internet in advance when they should spend their
money on huge purchase. |
