▶ Your Answer :
Some people think that living in a big city
provides a lot of advantages for children. However, in my opinion, life in
countryside is more advantageous for children compared to life in big cities.
The reasons are that countryside is safer than big cities and provides a
healthy environment.
First of all, rural areas are safer than
metropolitan areas. This is because that the crime rate in countryside is lower
than the one in big cities. A recent research was conducted by the National
Statistical Office to determine whether the crime rate in Seoul, the largest
city in Korea, is higher compared to the one in countryside. The office stated that
the occurrence frequency of crime in Seoul was 0.5% in 2016 while the one in
countryside was 0.1%. According to the research, the main reason for the high
crime rate in Seoul was unstable social security. Due to the high population in
the city, only 3.5 officers per 1,000 inhabitants were available. In contrast,
12 officers per 1,000 residents were available in countryside. Thus, more
number of policemen per 1,000 inhabitants were available in rural areas and
this led to the lower crime rate. Since safety is an important factor for
raising kids, rural areas are much more proper place than big cities.
Second, countryside provides a healthy and
natural environment for kids. Rural areas have fresh air and a lot of trees
while large cities produce many harmful chemicals from cars, factories, and
power plants. And the pollutants causes many respiratory diseases such as
pneumonia. For example, one of my nephews had suffered from pneumonia. He used
to have a hardship for breathing when he lived in Seoul. So, his parents
decided to move into a rural area because they thought that the polluted air in
the city is the reason for his disease. After he moved to the countryside, his
ailment has been improved and he finally got his health on track.
In a nutshell, by taking safety and a
natural environment into consideration, the advantages of living in rural areas
far outweigh the disadvantages of it. In this regards, I firmly hold that life
in rural areas has more beneficial for children than in big cities. |
