Brown freshmen ordinarily will have completed years of
primary and secondary schooling. Prior to matriculation at Brown,
students should have completed the programs which, in their home
countries, have prepared them for entrance to a university in that
country. Students should also plan to sit for national external examinations,
such as the A-levels, German Abitur, French Baccalauréat,
and submit the predicted scores for those examinations as part of
their credentials for admission to Brown. They should have completed
the equivalent of the following basic requirements at a minimum:
four years of English; three years of another language (dependent
upon the circumstances, this may be the native tongue for a foreign
applicant); at least three years of mathematics (four years required for
students who intend to continue study in that area or in the sciences);
