▶ Your Answer :
Undoubtedly, the
ability to read and write plays a significant role in the people’s daily lives
in many of place where they play or work. Some people think the ability to read
and write is more important than it was in the past, while others do not. Both
sides have their own reasons to support their ideas. If I had to choose one, I
would say that the ability to read and write is more important in the past than
morden lives. There are several reasons to support my idea as flows.
To begin with,
in the past, there was no mass media like radio and television. In order to
express their thinking and to inform the news report, They had to use books or
newspapers. As a result, people should to have ability of both read and write.
With regard to this point of view, there was a survey conducted by a research
department of UCLA. The survey participants were asked if the opinion that they
think the ability to read and write is more important in past. The result
showed that the 79 percent of participants answered that they are in favor of
this perspective. The survey confirms my view point. Further, the survey was
backed up by logical reasons.
On the top of that,
When I was a college students, I studied history of books. What I learned is
that in the past, students had only books to study. Now a day, students can use
many materials like mp3 or internet to study. Therefore, the ability to read
and write is more important in past.
All in all, some
people argue that importance of ability to read and write is bigger than past.
However I do disprove this perspective with my two concrete reasons mentioned
above.
