▶ Your Answer
There might be some people who believe that
it is better to communicate with others through letters, e-mail or telephone. I
personally disagree with the above idea. Thus, Face-to-face communication is
much more efficient for the following reasons. First, people can convey
accurately information to others. Second, people do not have to spend much time
exchanging their opinions.
First of all, face-to-face communication
allows people to have clearer communication. This is because the direct
interaction has lower chance to mislead people’s ideas in consideration with
including facial expression and body language. However, indirect communication
is difficult to understand people’s attitudes because their information is only
showed on the paper or monitor. For example, there was a poll conducted by
Korea Gallup with professors as respondents. The purpose of the survey was to
understand the consensus views about a form of communication. What researchers
found was intriguing. The majority of the respondents had responded
face-to-face communication was effective when they were counseling their
students. This was because they can precisely understand student’s need because
they can look at student’s emotion through face their status. The study pointed
out that when people met directly each other, their intention was released
efficiently.
On top of that, people can save time through
face-to-face communication. This is due to the fact that they can get feedback
with no delay. This also helps develop their idea quickly. Compared to written
formations such as e-mail and text massage which require people to wait for other’s
response, people can express their opinion by reacting others in face-to-face
communication. Let bring up my story as an example, after enrolling the
mathematics club, my club members first exchanged our opinion through text message
on the phone. However, we had to spend many time to determine several processes of our studies because
some members did not answer their opinions directly. We should prepare for competition
about math, so we decided to meet in person and to start brainstorming on the spot. From
these methods, we can collect many ideas in a short time. Consequently, we can
receive the best award in the competition.
To sum up, advantages of face-to-face
communication far outweigh those of indirect communication by saving time and
by conveying more accurate information. In this regard, I firmly believe that
it is better to choose direct communication when people try to communicate with
others.
