▶ Your Answer :
Students spend more than half of their time
at school in weekdays. They always hang out with their friends while they meet
teachers only in classes. Hence, I think that students are more affected by
their colleagues rather than teachers. This is because they spend most of time
together, have same interests, and learn together.
To
begin with, students spend a lot of time with their friends. To be specific,
students meet their colleagues even after the school, and have dinner together.
If a student likes to eat pizza, her friend may also go to eat pizza many
times. Also, students may follow their friends’ outfit, makeups, and all other
habits since they are always together. On the contrary, students and teachers
only see each other at school. So it is difficult for students to spend a lot
of time with their teachers.
Furthermore,
students can share hobbies with each other since they are usually same age.
They might have same interest such as TV star, while teachers cannot share
hobbies with students since they are much older. For example, suppose I am a
fan of Justin Bieber but not so much enthusiastic. If my friend also likes
Justin Bieber and enjoys going to the concert, I will get a concert ticket to
follow her. That is, people having same interest may influence each other to do
the activities together.
Additionally,
students are learning together so that they can be influenced by their friends
academically. Teachers provide the lecture and teach the concepts. However, it
is their classmate who can discuss about the subject, help solving problems,
and cram for the exam with the students. Therefore, even though teachers stand
in front of the students and share their knowledge, their colleagues have the
greatest effect on students’ academic achievement.
In
sum, friends influence students much more than teachers do. Since students
spend much time, share interests, and study with their colleagues, it is so
natural for them to be affected by their friends and follow some of the
friends’ behaviors. Therefore, it would be possible to say that having great
friends at school might influence students enormously.
