As people get older, they face a lot of experiences that change their life. Most of the influencial experiences in their life get affected by the people around them. When they are young, their family plays a key role of influencing their life; however, as they become adults, their collegues play a main role of that. What is being controversy is that whether young adults, also being considered as teenagers, include in former one or latter one. In my point of view, young adults belong to the latter one in that they stay more with their friends rather than family and they can be life partner through deep relationship.
First of all, as people grow older, they tend to leave their own family to spend more time with their friends whom they can share their thoughts and learn more about their life through conversations. Although they are not adult yet, they act more mature than their childhood; as a result, they often think they don't need anymore protection or regard from their family. To take an example of my experience, there should be no doubt that I have spent more of my high school years with my peers than ever before. Since studying is the prevailing obligation among us, we come into touch more than anyone else.
In addition to the first reason, friends can be life assistants in teenagers' life. As they step into grown-ups from their teens, they face a variety of hardships or slump. At this moment, friends can be a big help by consolating and sharing their same situation. Family members, on the other hand, might not understand them because they are usually not their age. For instance, when I was in slump back in middle school, I tried get out of it with my friends' help. They not only helped me but we also became more closer friend.
To sum up, peope who affect young adults are not their own family but their friends. Since they stay with each other more than their family, they can share their thoughts and help each other as their life partners. It is always important to choose who we will stay with. As I have shown above, I think friends can be the most important influence to young adults. |
