Some people say that direct experience is better than listening to the advice of friends because people who have direct experience can remember many things that they experienced for a long time. However, I strongly believe that the advantages of listening to the advice of close friends and family are more effective than direct experience in that people can reduce a lot of mistakes and easily broaden their knowledge.
First of all, people are able to decrease their mistakes when they should make important decisions. People usually have similar to experience for their life. Especially, parents have many experiences throughout various fields. So, their advice gives us positive benefits. For example, my father always told me that you should quit smoking to keep your health. The reason is that my father suffered from heart disease five years ago. He knew its harmfulness through direct experience. If someone gave him some advice about smoking’s bad things, he would be able to prevent his disease.
Moreover, people can broaden their knowledge throughout various areas. When people hear some advice from someone, they can collect enormous information and then through these processes they can keep useful information in their brain. For instance, I like to listen to advice from my friends, my major’s professors and my family. When I should make a crucial decision, I usually listen to at least 10 people’s advice and I write my note important things. Sometimes, I use these in different situations.
Some people say that “direct experience is the best teacher.” However, I strongly believe advice of someone is more valuable than anything such as direct experience. There are two reasons that people can decrease their mistakes and broaden knowledge. I hope that when people should make a important decision, people receive good advice from their close friends and family. |
