Some people say that businesses should engage employees form their entire lives. However, I strongly believe that what businesses hire workers until their retirement make the mistake that workers tend to transfer to seek their own interests, and has a negative impact on company’s productivity.
First of all, employees tend to ignore companies’ interests in favor of their own interests. In the past, employees would like to be ensured their job security within the company they worked for. However, in these days, they compare work condition and salaries of other companies with their company. Therefore, I claim that businesses do not need employees to hire for their entire lives. According to the study by Korean National Research Center, 69 percent of surveyed respondents answered that if other company offer them job position that ensure workers better work condition and salary than current company, they will transfer the company. Based on the study, it is predicable for financial loss of companies to rise since companies’ workers will frequently move to other companies. Thus, I think that ensuring employees’ retirement is not proper method at the expense of company interests.
In addition, lifelong jobs prevent employees from performing at their best. Many companies face fierce competition with others. So, the companies consider how to survive this situation. Thus, I maintain that lifelong jobs would hinder workers from doing their best because they can become weary of repetitive work that causes losing job interests. Take my friend case as an example, he got his job ten years ago at a company where most job positions were ensured until retirement. At a first, he put all his best effort into processing the assigned workload. However, as time passed, he was fed up with the same work since he had to meet the same people and monotonous work atmosphere. It caused him to lose job interest, which will result in productivity loss of company. As my friend experience illustrates, if the company had not ensured lifelong jobs to the workers, the company would have increased workers’ efficiency.
In conclusion, today, many people pursue to secure job positions. However, it does not help both workers and company for the following two reasons. First, employees always consider of moving other company that offer better work condition and salary. Moreover, It can bring about employees’ efficiency loss of company. |
