There might be different ideas regarding whether trying to help students to gain self-confidence is more important than teaching specific knowledge. Personally, I strongly agree with the above statement becuase self-confidence not obly ensure student to academic success, but also lead them to have a bright future.
To begin with, self-confidence enable students to reach their fullest potential in their academic area. Of course, conveying knowldges plays crucial role in their school. However, it does not very last long throughout the school years without students' self-confidence. For example, when I was 5th grade, I had hard time in socializing with other friends since I had lack of confidence. At this point, my homeroom teacher tried to help me a lot by encouraging me and telling me how to interacting with other classmates. Beforelong, thanks to her, I was able to make a lot of friends, and it impacted on my academic grade greatly as well.
Moreover, self-confidence leads student to grow an examplary person. It is generally said that a student who is quite confident and always think positive way are more likely be sussccessful in the future. This is due to the fact that they never give up even if they failed in something. In this sense, it is indispensable for teacher to plant student to self-confidence rather than focus on academic sources. According to the survery, realeased by Korean National Research Center, more than two thirds of the responded teachers answered that letting student have a confidence is a fisrt priority when it comes to educating students. Based on this study, many teachers believe that trying to aid students to getting self-confidence cannot outwiegh teaching them solely academic materials.
In a nutshell, self-confidence plays crucial role in student in terms of performing well in their school, and ensuring succeess when they are aged. Thus, teachers have to put their all effort into enhancing their potential, prasing and encouraging students. |
