It is highly controversial topic whether one should place much emphasis on the money or not when choosing a job. Amid prevalent mammonism in our society, the money is regared as being omnipotent and the virtue of self-realization seems to become vague. However, I stongly believe that whether one can become truely happy or not with their jobs is extreamly important factor when selecting a job.
First of all, when people feel happy with their job, they are able to perform better. This is due to the fact that people can get a sence of achievement in their jobs, when they do what they want. While self-decision offers people a sense of resposibility, people who are forced to do what they reluctant to do are easily get bored or lose interest in their work. For example, one of my friends started to work in large company and his payment is high enough. However he decied to quit the job because he was not interested in the task which he takes. He was not able to get motivated to work harder anymore. After resigning the job, he decide to be a movie director. Altough he is not able to make a furtune that he made in the large company, he is satisfied with his decision and always says that there is nothing batter than now.
Not only people are able to perform better when they do what they want, but also they are able to actualize ultimate goal of life. Since people choosed their job on their own, they do not regret with thier decision and rather are proud of thier job. According to a theory of philasophy, among five steps of hierarchiy the most ultimate goal of human being is self-actualization. In other worlds, after satisifying basic needs such as foods, safety and so on, people seek to find the way to actualize what they were born for. The prime example is a korean cardinal named Kim soo hwan which was admired by many koreans. During his life time, he struggle to resist against corrupt goverment and sometimes prevent civilization from their attacks. Since this time was dark age of democracy for koreans, they appriciated his efforts to fight against the power. Even though he was not a rich, his accomplishment often is compared with the grave faults of the rich and greedy goverment in the past. I believe it fully illustrate the precious value that people can not pursue with the money. |
