Many people think that university students don’t need to be required to attend classes. I don’t agree with this statement. First, attending class is an important factor to evaluate diligence of students. Besides, students can learn deeply their attending courses in classes.
First and foremost, professor can estimate attitude of students in class. Students who attend classes without absent can be considered as diligent. For example, when I was a freshman, I attended biology class. The class started at 9 am, so I had to wake up early. I never attended class in late, so professor who taught biology always praised me. Although I was very tired because of wakeup time, I diligently attended the class. As a result, I got a high grade. On the other hand, I didn’t do that in chemistry class. I didn’t attend the class in time, so I couldn’t thoroughly learn structure of molecules. I got a bad point in the class. Now I understand importance of attending classes. Checking attendance is one of good way to estimate grades.
Second, students are only able to learn deeply in classes. Professors have a lot of information about their fields. Students can learn accurate knowledge in classes. Some people argue that learning subjects are enough to study by themselves. But they don’t think quality of learning. Professor’s teaching is the best way to learn specific subjects. In my case, when I was sophomore, I attended electromagnetic. I didn’t go classroom because I thought that it was better for me to study alone. But I didn’t understand contents of the subject well. As a result, I got C grade. On the other hand, most of students who attended the class regularly got high grade. Learning in classes is better than learning alone.
In conclusion, many students think attending in class is not effective way. But I think that attending class is not only good way to estimate diligence of students but also good opportunity to learn deeply. |
