Those who consider that passion and energy are essential virtues to lead a enjoyable life might support that young people enjoy their life more. However, I think that old people live more enjoyable life than young ones do.
First, old people relatively have more time and resources to enjoy their lives. As society is getting more automated and machanizated, competition among young people is getting extremly fiercer. As result, the way of spending young-life has changed. It was to enjoy their hobbies and trips, but now it is to prepare for job interviews and credencials. I used to be amazed that a university library is fully filled with students for fighting against future uncertainty even in the late night. In the other hands, the old, who have security and much spare time, enjoy their lives freely.
Second, maturity old people aquired through a long life brings better choices to enjoy a life. No one can recognize what he reallly want and like for a first time. It is anologous with some kinds of fermentized food which can be appreciated fairly after serveral trials. In a sense, old people truly know what they have to do for their enjoyable lifes though many experienes, while young people waste their short young period by tirals and errors.
In a nutshell, it is old people who can enjoy a life sincerely, as far as their social certainty and wisdom for better decision-making are concerned. |
