It is debatable whether we don't have to judge a person by his or her appearance. Some people oppose to the statement above since appearance is the mirror of our personality. However, I disagree with the idea because there are many people who are warm-hearted with disliked outer looks and disabled people who is the best at their majors.
First of all, we usually think someone who has a horrible face might be agressive. It is because that we can see bed people in the movies frequently have the appearance. If someone who has scars on his face approaches us, we will be scared naturally. However, in my case, I have a roommate who has a scarry face. At the first time I met him, I thought that he is violent and heartless and did not have a plan for get along well with him. Conversely, One day, I caught a severe cold and I could not move at all. Then my roommate bought me over-the-counter medicine on his own and gave it to me. He was so generous. Thus, we need not do regard someone as his or her first impression.
On top of that, some people ignore handicapped people since they are not able to act like the normal. However, this fact is really unreasonable because the handicapped can have special talents at some fields. For example, the person I admire most is my professor. He is a disabled man. But He finished his PH.D despite his disability. He struggled with prejudice because people still hold the biased views against handicapped people. He pushed on, undaunted by such difficulties. In this sense, one can be the best in the sphere where he or she good at in spite of physical hardships.
In conclusion, we can appraise someone more accurately by considering his or her innate characteristics rather than appearance. With this concept, our ability to have good relationships with other people will be improved. |
