We confront so many occasions that require us to decide something important during our lives. Although many people around us such as parents or teachers can help and give precious advices regarding our decisions, I’m quite doubt about the statement which says that we should not make important decision by ourselves. Rather, I think there are so many cases when we can’t get any help from others or in spite of their help the things can go wrong.
Specifically, the more personal decision the occasion require, the more useless the others’ help gets. This is because, usually tutors such as parents, teachers and other experienced adults give advices based on general occasions. For example, when I was deciding what subject I will major at the university just after my graduation from high school, my parents and teachers kept telling me to major in business so that I‘ll feel easier to find a job and earn money after graduation. So I followed their comments, and finally ended up to quit the school and try again to go to the university I want. And furthermore, in the case like mine, people even can complain about others for ruining their decisions, and this in turn can have a negative effect on their emotion as well.
Add up to this, as a separated individual human being, person cannot always get advice from others. Furthermore, in spite of others’ help we have to make a final decision on our own at the end. So if people ignore this point and keep depending on others’ help, they will finally end up losing their ability to decide.
As the society progresses, the social tendency of putting importance on individual gets deepen. So in this point of view, not only to follow this social trend, but also for each individual’s own good, I think people should be more self reliant on deciding something important. |
