People attend college or university for many different reasons (for example, new experiences, career preparation, increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. |
If one does not attend college or university, he/she cannot have a variety of experiences. That is one of several good reasons why I think people try to go to university.
One rationale why people go to college is that they can broaden their horizons. In other words, they can meet a substantial number of people and also do various activities. To illustrate this point, when I entered university, everyday was full of interesting things. I had many chances to attend activity clubs, so I became a member of Interpretation Volunteers. In this club, I could participate in some special activities and do interpretation in English for the school's special forum. Because I was a helper of forums, I could have some relationships with many foreigners who came to my school. From these experiences, I could improve my English ability and also gain some chances to familiar with professors and other students. In addtion to that, I went to several places where the disabled live and help them speaking in English. While I spent a wealth of time helping others, it remained so valuable memory for me. If I were not be a university student, I would not have these experiences at all. In this sense, attending college grants numerous activities.
Another reason why pupils enter university is that they can study any subject deeply and a number of fields. That is, students can learn what they want and be experts of some fields. For example, one of my friend, Lisa, was fond of learning foreign languages. However, she could not have many chances to learn several languages because she had to pay a substantial amount of money in private academies. In university, she selected her major for Spanish and could learn not only Spanish, but also the history or culture of Spain. Even though she majored in Spanish, she could attend some Japenese classes or other language classes. This is because she had two minor majors. Moreover, professors who came from Spain gave information about language skills. For this reason, in terms of learning, it couldn't be better to attend college.
In the competive world, people who do not go to univerist can go so far. As mentioned above, entering college broadens one's horizons and also give chances to study in more depth. |
