I think schools should ask students to evaluate their teachers. Students can be a great evaluator for teachers because they are the ones who are learning. By evaluating the teachers, they would try better to teach the students well. Also, students would try to study harder because they told the teachers what is inadequate and short coming. First, teachers would try to teach the students better. Since the students evaluate the teachers’ lessons, behavior or the homework, teachers would try to make the lessons more interesting and exciting. It is good for both teachers and students if the class not boring. I once had a class that was so boring and the teacher would not try to fix the problem. He once came to my class and all he did was to say, “Read the text, it will be on the test.” I did not like the style of him. I sometimes wished that there were something like student evaluation program to change that teacher’s way of teaching. To add as an example, when the teachers give too much homework, students can tell them and they will consider the amount of homework that is being handed out. Sometimes, several bad behaving students will take advantage of it, but I think it the benefits are greater than the defections. Furthermore, students can be better as well. The students would try better on things they asked the teachers. For example, if a student evaluated a teacher low because of her bad behavior, such as not explaining well and being overly stressed out, during class, the student who evaluated the teacher will try to be cautious on his/her behavior too. I don’t think he/she wants to hear from the teacher that he/she doesn’t even behavior him/herself and ask the teacher to do well. In addition, students will grow up and be mature by doing some evaluating. They will feel responsibility about grading teachers. Thus, I think student evaluating their teachers would be a great experience and a chance to be a better grown up too. |
