I disagree with the statement: When people succeed, it is because of hard work. Luck had nothing to do with success. Although it is true that hard work leads people to succeed, luck makes it happen either faster or slower. If a person is so unfortunate that every time bad luck comes to him or her at the important situation, success can be always farther apart from the person forever. There is an example of a student. A very diligent student always came to school first and cleaned the class room. One day, the class teacher accidently saw the situation and got impressed by the student. After that the teacher might always saw his or her behavior in a good way and finally wrote a good note in the student’s recommendation at the end of year. This recommendation will lead her or him to a batter college than others. It would not happen if the teacher never noticed him or her cleaning the class room early in the morning which is very unfortunate. Successful people do not miss their lucky chance. They do not just work hard and wait to be successful. They seek for the opportunity where they can be promoted or noticed by teachers. They also look for the right time to show how great effort they put in what they are doing even though there might be a risk. Good luck will be followed as they get what they wanted but bad luck can lead people into the wrong situation. For instance, an employee wanted to be noticed by his or her supervisor that she or he overacted. The supervisor might consider it as a selfish behavior that the promotion became a fantasy to the employee. In my point of view, the right time with appropriate luck should be followed after people’s hard work in order to achieve success. This can be gained if the person is smart and quick enough to avoid bad luck and to fetch good luck. |
