A company has announced that it wishes to build a large
factory near your community. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this
new influence on your community. Do you support or oppose the factory? Explain
your position.
The issue is whether build a large a large
factory near my community or not. Certainly, some people would agree that it is
a good idea. While others would say that the question is double-edged due to a
great deal of factors involved. As far as I am concerned, I adopt the firm position
that a large factory can be built near my community.
First of all, the large company brings
economic benefit. To be specific, it creates a lot of job opportunities which
as a result foster economic growth. It is undeniable that the employment rate
is the important source people to maintain a living and motivate. Nevertheless,
according to UN's annual report on global issues, the unemployment rate has
been increased consistently. This became a dominant matter which can cause a
variety of social and economic issues. Thus, increasing rate of the savings is
one of the most urgent matter contemporary society is facing. Let me take communities
where I live as an example. In the 70's, Ulsan was small and undeveloped region
located in South Korea. In the 80's Hyundai, Korean big company builds the
plant which manufactures car and ship. And this factory fostered Ulsan's
socioeconomic growth. Thankfully, my hometown has grown to the highest GDP in
Korea. Therefore, it is legitimate to assert that building large company near
the community is needed because it gives socioeconomic benefit.
In addition, as most people can expect, a
large company brings bad consequences such as air pollution. This problem is
directly related to the enhancement of our ecosystem. Accordingly, protecting
the environment offers a major opportunity for us to build a better future. However,
we cannot ignore the advantages of building a large company. Therefore, we have
to kill two birds with one stone by replacing fossil fuels to renewable
resources such as the sun, water, and wind. For instance, there was a study
conducted in 2005 by the Korean environmental institute to investigate whether
fossil fuels or renewable resources raise environmental pollution. The study
compared the concentrations of carbon dioxide emitted by renewable energy and
fossil fuels. This research concluded that renewable energy is much more
environmentally friendly because the level of carbon dioxide was less than
fossil fuel. Thus, I can firmly insist that building a large company is
manageable if they try to solve environmental pollution by using alternative
energy.
To summarize, a large company is beneficial
and can handle the environmental issues. Considering the above two reasons. I contend
that construct a large in near my city is a much better option
