It is obviously
an argument that enterprises should advertise their products in some media such
as television programs. Some people might think that it is okay to
advertise in TV programs. (better that marketing in some show of
television.) However, in my opinion, I disagree with the above
proposition for two reasons. First, people who watch TV shows have their own
purpose and the other reason is that it is not useful.
To begin
with, it may seem that TV
commercials are beneficial to viewers, however, (even if it
seems like useful to make an advertisement in some TV shows,) it can disturb
some people who want to focus on watching the show. (could disturb
people who want to admire TV show continuously feel.) To be specific, the potential
customers may have negative image of the company. (those who will
buy some items of company can have negative perspective to their item.) Let me bring up
my personal experience to demonstrate this point. (explain my
views on this as my personal experience.) An audition show called Superstar K
by Mnet (run by Mnet corp) in South Korea, was a very
popular show. (top program in media industry.) So many people watched
this show and people wondered (it was always hot issue) who would be
the winner. However, the directors began advertising galaxy 6 edition several
times in the show each for 60 seconds. Ultimately, it made some
viewers uncomfortable. (some people feel stressful and have
negative mind to galaxy 6 editions.) In this sense, companies should not
advertise their items directly in a television
program.
On top of that, some
people prefer using social media such as Facebook
and Twitter than watching TV. It is because they can pick
something they want in the social network. Thus, TV commercials are
not as effective as they used to be. (this method to announce their goods
through television program is not useful anymore.) According to a
research done by the Media Ministry of Korea, the number of people who watch TV
has slightly decreased over the last three years. TV stations have tried so
hard to increase the viewing ratings. (There is a statistic material
conducted by media ministry of Korea. The purpose of this was to study that
rate of watching TV in these days. They researched watching rate of this year
compared with the past from 3years. They concluded that the rate of watching TV
from people is significantly lower than 3 years ago. And they replied employees
of media industry must do everything they can to increase the rate.) In this
regard, that is not useful since it only decreases the viewing ratings. (due to
low rate of watching television.)
To sum up,
inserting advertisements during a TV program (into
television program) can create negative images of the company and the
program. (aspect to people, and it won’t be a good method due to
bad performance in the media industry.) Thus, I strongly disagree with the above
proposition that a company should make an advertisement of
their product in television programs.
