▶ Your Answer : Before people
make decisions, they often get information from various sources depending on
their preference. But most of them like to be informed from someone near them.
Friends are the good sources to get information about certain products or
stores. Actually, I think friends give the greatest impact on people’s choices.
First of all,
people like to conclude that closer the source is to them, more reliable it is.
They think that rather than getting information from strangers, it’s better to
get them from people they know well which include their friends. They even
suppose that friends can give more accurate and useful feedbacks about products
than magazine or online communities. Thus, they rely on friends when they have
to make decisions. For example, when I had to buy a smartphone, I sought advice
from my friends and relied on it. Consequently, I ended up buying the phone
that my friend suggested.
Another reason
is that friends make people adjust themselves. This is called group behavior.
When a person need to choose and realize that all the people around the person
make a certain decision, there is greater chance that he or she will follow the
group pressure. According to an experiment, people are significantly influenced
by a group that they are in. A group of experts experimented this tendency.
They chose a group of students who will be the subject of this experiment, then
each student went into a classroom with other people who are researchers. The
teacher asked students a question and all the researchers chose obviously wrong
answer. 8 of 10 students followed the wrong answer. This shows that friends can
give severe influence when people make choices.
To
conclude, I think the factor that gives greatest impact on people’s choice is
their friend. First reason is because people think that friends can give most
reliable information about each product. And the other reason is because people
are influenced by group pressure that come from their friends. |
