▶ Your Answer : Some people think that the government can ignore environmental issues if we can grow economically large. However, in my opinion, this perspective is not true for two reasons. First of all, when the government do not care about environment, many animals and plants will be extinct. In addition, destruction of environment would damage our health. To begin with, if we disregard environmental problems, it would affect many animals’ habitats. Furthermore, a variety of plants should live in inferior environment. It must be leads to enormous extinctions and food chain will be devastated, too. As a result, unbalance of ecosystem may harm our living places. Thus, the vicious cycle would be repeated again and again in the environment. For example, the renowned environmentalist Eric Applegate mentioned in a documentary that there are more than 900 creatures which were extinct because of environmental problems. Incidentally, he said this situation will impact on our society, too. It means, even if we have significant economic growth, we can’t live in our environment any more. On top of that, the destroy of environment would have a bad effect on our health. Environmental issues will get worse while we ignore them. And these issues must influence on our health. Consequently, the wealth is not important any longer because we can’t use our wealth. For instance, according to the survey conducted by UCLA’s research department, 79 percent of the participants answered that their health is not good as much as it was in the past. They added that the cause of this degeneration is poor environment where they live in. It means the environment and our health is deeply related each other. To sum up, many habitats where many creatures live would be destroyed, which leads to extinctions. Moreover, environmental issues would influence on our physical system negatively. In this regard, I think that the government should manage environmental problems. |
