Various opinions may exist over the argument that it is necessary for companies to invest more money on improving their employee's job skills. As far as I am concerned, I am in complete agreement with the argument. The two ideas stated below can be vaild evidence to support my view.
Above all, spending more money on improving their employees' job skills enables companies to enhance companies' competitiveness. Companies nowadays are living in a world of meritocracy where only extremely competitive companies can survive. Consequently, in order to have strengthen and make more profit, employees in the companies should become competent and proficient. Therefore, it is essential for companies to invest more money on emplyees' education. A research conducted by a renowned professor named Paul Waddel from Berkeley University indicates that companies which have regularily invested their emplyees' education attain the goal of forming a strong competitions. Also, many global companies such as google, facebook, and samsung actually spend a large amount of money improving their employees' job skills. However, having the same accomplishments is somewhat stunted for companies which did not spend more money on employees' education . Likewise, his research proves that my argument in the advantage of investing more money on employees' education is compelling.
On top of that, companies should invest more money on improving their employees' computer skills because there is generation gap between senior workers and new workers created by technology advances. Over the past few decades, various communication means such as SNS and smart phone applications have been developed, all of which young people today use to get information they need. However, older people cannot use these means effectively and find adequate information. Consequently, it might accelerate generation gaps between workers, which have a negative effect on companies in any ways. Let me bring up my personal story as an example. I use Twitter all the time to be in touch with co-workers. My boss often questions why I use it so frequently. He did not understand how Twitter helps me not only to be up-to-date with current trends, but also to gain necessary information. His inability of understanding why I use Twitter makes it difficult for him to relate with me and young employees. If the company provide him with computer educations, he would have a good relationship with young employees.
In conclusion, I agree that it is significant for companies to spend more money on improving their employee's job skills due to the aforementioned reasons.
