▶ Your Answer :
Opinions might be divided over why people study
in college or university. People of various ages and from different walks of
life may take diverse positions on this controversial issue. Personally, I
think that there are two reasons for people going to college or university: job
opportunity and social network.
To
begin with, people who didn’t studied more at university or college can work at
good companies. Advocates’ claims may sound reasonable enough on the surface. However,
if we take a closer look at their contentions, the rationale for their
assertions lacks logic in many ways. Moreover, my personal examples can
definitely debunk their claims. When my older sister was 20 years old, she
decided to stop studying and work at company. Thus, she started to go for job interviews
in many companies. Although she struggled to get a good job, companies didn’t want
to hire her. In the job interview, an interviewer of the company asked my
sister that why she did not keep studying. And they also said that they want to
work with people who graduated university or college. The same applies to those
who do not attend college and university. They will get less job opportunities.
Second, people who go to university and
college can broaden their social network. There are many articles which can support
my argument. They expressed doubts that are similar to my point of view. A few
weeks ago, I had a chance to read an article from the Kyeong-Hyang Daily News
that is related to today’s topic. It describes the results of a survey
conducted by the Seoul National University sociology researchers with more than
500 people in 20s. Of 20s surveyed more than 80 percent of them answer that
whether the people attend university or college is the important factor of
forming good connection with various people. They went on say that 20s who do
not go to university or college had less chances to meet people who study or
work in different fields. On the other hand, 20s who go to university and
college could meet and get along easily with people who take different courses
at university festivals, group activities and so on. This clearly proves that
attending university or college let 20s broaden their connections. |
