▶ Your Answer :
Undoubtedly, society plays a significant
role in people’s daily lives in many of the places they work or play. Some
people think that books have influenced society more than television has, while
others do not. Both sides may have their own reasons to support their views. If
I had to choose one, I would say that the television has influenced the society
more than books. There are several reasons as follows.
Most of all, people could learn new things more
efficiently by watching television than by reading books. Television is
equipped with many functions that help people study efficiently and accurately.
When these functions are well used, it is likely to bring a better result in
their performance. For example, my youngest brother studied Spanish with his
high school textbook, but he was poor at it even though he studied it for 1 year. He
has changed little by little after he started to repeat after Spanish actor’s
words in television. He was able to improve his Spanish skills such as a wide
variety of word usage, pronunciation, and grammar. Now he speaks Spanish fluently
and even encourages others to study Spanish harder. Without this experience, he
would have been poor at Spanish.
Moreover, people watch Television more than
the books. With the widespread of television, the book has lost its position as
information delivery intermediate. It is impossible to deny that television has
more influential power than books. Let me give you an example of this. In the early
15th century, there were a lot of murder cases in UK. However, most
of people lived in that era did not know about them because they depended only
on books, which were published a long time after the accident organized. In
Contrast, most of people living in present know the summit talk between North
and South korea president, as they are broadcasted in television every day all
around the world. Without the spread of television, people would have been
confined to their own life, without any information around the world.
To sum up, I think the effects that television
has influenced the society far outweigh those that book has. The importance of
television’s influence cannot be overestimated in life.
