In the reading passage, there is plentiful support for the author's claim that there are many benefits of wearing uniforms. However, the professor in the the lecture gives several reasons as a rebuttal to the author's point.
First, the professor contends that it is not true that wearing uniforms make children secure. For example, the a school in the Florida had doubled a the number of fighting after uniforms were first introduced. This casts doubt on the reading passage's claim that uniforms could decrease crimes against children.
Next, the professor insists that if students wear uniforms, they will not get achieve high level of participation and feel like they are the one. Uniforms make students all alike. So the individuality is limited. Also when peers who wear the uniform go to supermarket all together, it looks weird and strange. This counters the reading passage's assertion that uniforms gives student the a feeling of unity.
