There might be some people who believe that children should play sports
just for fun. However, I personally disagree with the above idea for two
subsequent reasons. This is because sports inspire kids to give their best
effort and help them to develop life skills for success.
To begin with, competitive sports teach children that it is always
important to do their best. In fact, the only way to become good at something
is to try hard. Iif children can have an experience competing with others by
playing sports, such as basketball and soccer, they can learn how to do their
best. For example, I played soccer when I was a child, and our coach always
pushed us to give our best effort. Of course, sometimes it was difficult, but I
always gaive my maximum effort and managed it. In the end, oOur team won the city soccer tournament.
It proved to me that my hard work paid off, and I learned that how important
effort and concentration are through this with the experience.
On top of that, children who participate in competitive sports can
acquire abilities that can help them to succeed ss in the future. Mmost of the
sports require abilities of cooperation and leadership , being a leader, which are is also required
to succeed in careers. As a result, people who are good at sports are more
likely to become leaders or valued members at work. According to a study done
by Stanford University in the United States, the researchers experimented the
correlation between experiences with sports competition and children’s
abilities to cooperate. They found that children who have played sports with a
special goal to win were better at cooperating with other players than children
who played sports just for fun. Also, the researchers argued that the children
with the ability to cooperate have more possibilities to lead or operate in a
team environment well, which is crucial for success in virtually every career.
This clearly shows that competitive factors in sports are important for
children to get the ability to cooperate and succeed in their lives.
In conclusion, sports as competition make children to always do their best
in every work, and they foster talents that can lead to success. In this
regard, I feel that it is better for children to play sports to compete rather
than just for pleasure.
