There might be some people who believe that
making schools better is not an effective way to improve a country. However, I
personally disagree with the above idea for two subsequent reasons. This is
because good schools produce people who can better contribute to their society
and result in a healthier economy.
To begin with, investing in the school
system results in citizens who are capable of making significant contributions
to society. Students who get a better education are more likely to learn how
the government and society work. This allows them to have a great role in
developing their country. For example, a school in my hometown was infamous for
the poor performance of its students, so the government provided extra funding
to this school to improve its facilities and to educate students more effectively.
Before doing this, many students failed to even graduate. However, after the
school's funding was increased, a great number of students completed their
studies and went on to become teachers, lawyers, and politicians. The education
they received made them a person who can contribute to their society in a
meaningful way.
On top of that, improving schools leads to
a stronger economy. In the modern world, the importance of agriculture has
decreased. On the other hand, the economies are heavily dependent on
technologies and industries which require significant attend to education.
Thus, it is no coincidence that the most successful economies also have some of
the great quality of education systems. According to a report produced by
UNESCO, the educational investment of Asian countries, such as China, South
Korea, Japan are praiseworthy. The economies of these countries have grown at
rapid rates that are unprecedented in world history. This rapid growth is a
direct result of their great emphasis on the education.
In conclusion, the importance of schools
results in citizens who contribute to society and bring about a more robust
economy. In this regard, I certainly believe that upgrading school is the most
important thing when it comes to the progress of a nation.
