▶ Your Answer : There might be some people who believe that being different from others helps us to achieve success. However, in my opinion, it is not helpful to be different from others. First, it is hard to get a job if one is different from others. Second, being different from others causes problems with others when we work together. To begin with, if someone is different from others, he will have difficult time to get a job. This is because companies usually have preferences of applicants. They want applicants to have specific abilities to work, such as skills of foreign languages, or computer skills. Skeptics of my main line of arguement may argue that this reason does not sound like reasonable. Nevertheless, to their dismay, there exists an abundance of examples that substantiate my claim. Here is one of them. When I was in college, I led a hectic daily life. Participating internship programs and acquiring job certificates were required. Developing foreign language proficiency is a necessity. However, one of my friends did not prepare anything for job. He just enjoyed traveling aborad, but companies did not want to hire him because he did not have anything that companies wanted such as foreign language proficiency, and job certificates. This clearly shows that being different from others is not helpful for getting a job. On top of that, being different causes problems with other when working. To be specific, a person who has different personality or thought hardly get together with others. Then, the performance of teamwork will be worsen. The representative case that I narrated above is not the only evidence to support my view. In a study conducted recently, a significant majority of survey participants endorsed my point of view. One office worker said in the survey that when he participated in a teamwork, there was a person who has different personality with others, and he had to adjust to the person for the teamwork. He complained that if there had been another person who has average personality, he would have worked more comfortably. An excutive of a company mentioned that to be successful, being different from others is not advantageous because others could not understand the differences, and it causes a lot of problems with others. In conclusion, being different from others provides difficulty of getting a job, and of working with others. For these reasons, I strongly believe that being different from others is not helpful at all. |
