Some people might claim that students do not have to
appraise the achievement of their teachers. However, this perspective is not
true for the two following reasons which I am going to elaborate. From my point
of view, I personally feel that students need to assess the performance of
their teachers.
First of all, evaluating the fulfillment abilities (fulfillment는 만족감이라는 표현이라 적절하지 않습니다) of their teachers encourages students to
actively participate in class. This is because in order to appraise the
capacity of their teachers in schools, students are also required
responsibilities, such as engaging in the course diligently, thoroughly
completing their assignments and meeting deadlines. According to a survey
conducted by Seoul National University of Korea, those who size up their
teachers’ capacity in schools do academically better academically (앞에 와도 문법적으로 틀리진 않지만, 뒤로 오면 더 자연스러워요) than those who do not. This is due to
the fact that the students who give an assessment of their
teachers know that they have to complete several obligations and make more
conscious endeavors to have an enthusiastic
attitude in course. Thus, students focus more and more on their studying and
can consequently get good grades. This implies that appraising what their
teachers accomplish in their fields have has (대상이 appraising, 즉 행위니 단수형이 맞습니다) a positive effect on most of the students.
On top of that, being measured their performance by
students makes teachers improve their teaching methods through student
feedback, which meets the majority of student’s requirements. Today’s students
want to learn a wide variety of knowledge in diverse fields and especially
enhance foreign language skills. This is because the modern society is increasingly becoming globalized and competitive, so
many job markets require job candidates with a high degree of expertise and
diverse language skills. According to a study done by Korean University, those
who can speak more than two foreign languages currently have an enormous
competitive advantage over those who cannot, since developing and
industrialized countries are progressively moving toward economies on a world
scale. This shows that teachers have to reflect the students’ views and
requirements and spend most of their class time equipping the students with professional knowledge and language skills for
their future careers.
To
sum up, sizing up the performance of their
teachers allows students to engage in class more zealously as well as teachers to enhance their teaching skills for their students’
future employment. In this regard, I fully believe that students have to assess
the accomplishment in schools of their teachers.
