It is of great worth to discuss whether the
strict rule is needed or not for the children’s future success. However, the
answer to this question can vary depending on each individual’s perspective. As
far as I am concerned, I think it is not needed to set strict rules for their
children. Since these strict rules could distract children to be more independent
and be more creative, which is also related to their future success.
To begin with, strict rules are not needed although
they are young. Of course, certain rules are need since children don’t know
exactly what is right and wrong. But this is just a guidance and direction to
their path, not the strict rules. This could distract children to be more
independent even in the future. During this age, children can be affected
easily so it is important to set the right direction and to form the stable
personality. A close of mine is the perfect example for this. When my friend
was young, his mother didn’t set the strict rules for him. This does not mean
that his mother didn’t love and have any interest on her child. Instead, his
mother gave him a great freedom to choose on his own life and gave proper direction
to him wisely. It was just a way to respect her child. This made him to think
himself and even his life independently. So when he grew up as an adult, he was
used to decide himself and became more independent. This example indicates that
not setting strict rules could help the children to be more independent.
On top of that, strict rules could limit
the children to broaden their perspective and to be more creative. To be more
specific, if the parents set the strict rules on the children’s early age,
their capability could be limited. The strict rules are just the adult’s
standard. So, if the parents want to communicate with their children, they have
to set the rules from the children’s point of view. According to the MOSA, which
is one of the most famous research center in South Korea, the children who were
not exposed to the strict rules when they are young, are much more creative than
the children who were. This shows that adult’s strict rules on their children
could distract them to expand their thinking and perspective. And this
ultimately would not help children to have more successful life in long run.
To sum up, I think it is better not to set
strict rules to the children, especially in their early age. Children absorbed
quickly and be affected easily. Thus, strict rules could disturb children to be
independent and to be creative. Those characteristics also directly influence
the children’s personality and even their future success.
