▶ Your Answer :
Opinions maybe divided over how the Chaco
structures were used. Although he reading passage suggests that the Chaco
people might have used the Chaco buildings for resident, food storage, the
ceremonial center, the lecturer contradicts the reading's argument for the
following reasons.
First of all, the reading's argument is
that the Chaco structures might have been used for residential because they look
like the large "apartment buildings" at Taos, New Mexico. However,
the speaker casts doubt on the the reading's claim. The lecturer goes on to say
that according to the interior of the structure, people could not have lived in
there. This is because there were few fire places which were necessary for
survival.
On top of that, the reading passage argues
that the Chaco structures might have been used in order to store food supplies.
On the other hand, the professor in the lecture argues that the reading's
assertion cannot explain why the the Chaco people had built the floors which
were ineffective for storage.
Finally, the author points out that the
Chaco people might have constructed the Chaco structures for ceremony and the
author suggests the mound which is located nearby the the Chaco structures as
evidence. On the other hand, the professor in the lecture argues that the mound
was only a trash space. The speaker adds that the Chaco structures might not
have been used for ceremony because other stuffs such as building materials
have been excavated at the mound and thus the pot also must have been trash. |
