Some people might believe that it is possible to be completely honest with friends. However, I personally disagree with the above idea for the two subsequent reasons. First, it is harmful for relationships with friends to be honest always. Second, it is necessary for people who want to keep their privacy to be not honest.
To start with, being always honest with friends can be harmful for relationship. To be specific, in some cases, when people tell the truth about negative aspects of people, people can get easily hurt. It keeps people from having a good relationship and results in conflicts with their friends. Let me bring up my story as an example. Last summer, I invited my friend to dinner. And I cooked a variety of foods such as pizza, pasta, fresh salad and even desert for my friend. However, my friends tasted a little and told me that it is not delicious. He didn't eat all of food that I prepared for him all day long. I was very upset and ended up breaking with my friends. If he had not been too honest at that time, I would have got along with him now.
In addition, being not honest is necessary for people to keep their own privacy. What this means is that everyone doesn't want to loud about certain details of their personality such as sex life, religious life and overcoming a bad habit. As a result, people are not likely to tell the truth to keep their privacy. According to a recent survey done by Korea university, 80% of average people said that they don't tell about their privacy honestly. This is due to the fact, respecting their own private life is important for them to maintain their autonomy and individuality. This clearly shows that people usually don't tell the truth to keep their privacy.
In conclusion, being not honest always allows people not only have a good relationship with their friend but also keep their own privacy. For these reasons, I personally believe that being completely honest with friend is not impossible.
