There is no shortage of debate
about whether it is better to raise children in a small town or in a large
city. I firmly believe that residing in the countryside is much more
advantageous. Rural dwelling seems clearly better for several reasons, such as
its pollution free environment and the abundant space it provides to the
children.
First of all, small towns have much
less pollution compared to large cities. Air pollution produced by factories or
cars in large cities causes children to have develop respiratory diseases as
they grow up. According to a study conducted by a university children who
experienced air pollution during their youth have a 20% increased possibility
of coming down with respiratory diseases, such as asthma and lung cancer. In
addition, noise from cars and trucks hinders the sleep of the children
disturbing the proper growth of a child. My experience is a compelling example
of this. When I was young I lived in a major city and the noise created by
traffic often bothered my night time sleep. This disrupted my proper sleep
resulting in me being short.
Secondly, the country side can
provide more space for the children while those in the big cities only have limited
amounts of space. Country sides have places, such as lakes, fields, and farms
where they can play various types of activities while communicating with children
from different backgrounds. Also, it provides land to raise animals that they
wouldn't be able to raise in the city, such as cows and horses. Several studies
have shown that interaction with other organisms is very important particular
in their early ages. It has shown that children who interacted with other
people or animals when they were young had much better social skills when they grew
up. This corroborates with my earlier assertion that having broad space helps
with the proper development of children.
In conclusion, I strongly agree
that the rural life is much more beneficial for the children than living in the
major urban areas. This is due to the clean environment and spacious room that
country sides promise us.
