There is no shortage of debate
about who is the most influential teacher of a child. I firmly believe the parent who raises the child
from birth until independence has the most impact on a child. Parents have the
biggest influence on a child because they are the most committed and they teach
the children basic skills that they need before being taught by another
teacher.
First of all, natural instincts
make parents more devoted to the children than any other person. Most parents
have an urge to sacrifice themselves for the wellbeing of their children. They
commit their time and money towards their children so that they can have a more
successful life. On the other hand, school teachers have to divide their time
and effort among the students resulting in less attention distributed to one
student. My experience is a compelling example of this. My mom was a teacher
teaching at an elementary school limiting the time that she stayed home. Even though
she didn't stay home for a long time she gave up her own time in order to take
care of my education.
Second, parents teach the children
the most basic things they need to know. After a baby is born parents teach
them the most fundamental skills, such as language skills, sports skills, and
essential manners. After they enroll in school, they learn knowledge from the
school teachers. However, parents still teach their children other life skills,
such as how to socialize with other people and how to be responsible. This
education given by the parent makes the child more suitable to live in a
society. A study has shown that children who weren't properly educated by their
parents of these skills had a 20% higher probability of falling behind of
society. This validates my earlier contention that it is essential for the
parents to educate the children fundamental life skills.
In conclusion, it is evident that
parents have the most influence on the children. This is clear for various
reasons, such as they are the most devoted and they teach them essential skills
they need to learn.
