▶ Your Answer : An intriguing topic of discussion at hand is whether the best teachers are parents or not. Since people may hold different ideas and opinions, some people who consider parents as the most influential people might agree with this idea. However, this perspective is not true for the following two reasons that I am going to elaborate on; teaching needs expertise and children are more likely to be affected by their friends. I personally support the idea that parents may not be the best teachers. First of all, while teaching should be done by experts, the alternative-affection-does not need to. In a sense, it is true that with affection, teaching would be able to more effective and meaningful. However, it is more important to teach with professional knowledge and skills than with unconditional affection. For example, I have one friend who loves her son so much and want to teach him by herself. She had a very strong will to do that and tried hard to offer the best lesson. Then one day, her son said he could not continue learning with her because he had trouble understanding her lesson. As shown in the example, teaching is not a common skill that everyone can try. By learning from the teachers, people can learn properly. On top of that, as far as the relationship between friends getting stronger, it is required to admit that children may be affected by more friends than parents. Children spend time with their classmates longer as they grow up. Indeed, a study recently conducted by a National Statistical Office is well aligned with this statement. What the study said is interesting. According to the study, 78% of the participants answered in favor of the idea that they are most affected by their friends. Furthermore, their opinions are supported by logical reasons which are similar to that of mine. What this indicates is that who is the most influential to children is their fellow. From house to school, there is no greater way to take an influential person as a teacher. To sum up, although this subject is open to interpretation like any other issue in this complex world, with a deep understanding, it seems reasonable to claim that parents may not be the most proper person to teach. This is because of the two reasons that I mentioned above-nature of education and children’s effective factor. |
