▶ Your Answer :
Undoubtedly, learning about a foreign country plays
a significant role in people’s daily lives in many of the places where they
work or play. Some people think that the best way to learn about a foreign
country is to read newspapers and magazines from there, others do not. Bothe
sides may have their own reasons to support their views. If I had to choose
one, I would say that reading newspapers and magazines from the foreign country
is not the best way. There are a reason and example as follows.
Most of all, learning about a foreign country by
reading newspapers and magazines from there is just an indirect experience. It
means that it is better to travel the foreign country directly to learn about
the foreign country. People are likely to know the foreign country by
communicating the natives, watching the architectures in reality and eating the
local food. For example, John, one of my friends, traveled the France. He
watched the Eiffel Tower and talked about the architecture with French there.
Through talks with them, he could learn about the tower’s history which he did
not learn by newspaper and magazines. Also, he thought that the France people
always eat mainly bread and there are many bakery shops since a newspaper told
him the information. However, he changed his idea by traveling the country. Actually,
there have been many changes in recent years. There are little bakery shops
than he expected. If he had not visited the foreign country, he would have
still known swallow knowledge or wrong information.
To sum up, I strongly believe that the advantages
of visiting a foreign country far outweigh these of reading newspaper and
magazines from there for the reason I have mentioned above. In this regard, the
importance of knowing a foreign country directly cannot be overestimated in
real knowledge. |
