▶ Your Answer :
During the past few centuries
humanity has experienced events that changed people's life styles dramatically,
such as the industrial revolution. As a solution to the new busy life style people
made instant foods which are foods that are prepared beforehand. There is no
shortage of debate whether the advent of instant foods is beneficial to
humanity. I firmly believe that instant foods are actually harmful to humanity
for the following reasons.
First of all, instant foods lack
the essential nutrients that people need to function properly. Most processed foods
contain high levels of sodium, saturated fat, and trans fat which can be
detrimental for people's health. Also, a large portion of instant foods use
additives which adds flavor but does not increase the nutritional value of the
food. Several universities conducted experiments where subjects were divided
into two groups. One group was provided with only instant foods for one week
and the other was provided a well balanced meal cooked with fresh food. Results
showed that the former groups had insufficient amounts of vitamins and minerals
where as the latter had sufficient amount of nutrients.
Second, eating fast food can
obstruct socializing with other people. Conventionally, the whole family sat
around a table and ate socializing with each other. However, most fast foods
are usually eaten outside of the house. The absence of regular family meetings
can have a detrimental effect on the relationship between the family members.
My experience is a compelling example of this. During the weekdays my parents
go to work and we don't have time to eat meals together. As a result we
communicate less with each other and we don't know what is going on with the
other person's life. On the other hand, during the weekends we mostly eat
together allowing us to communicate and build an understanding of each other's
lives.
In conclusion, it is evident that
this new eating habit can bring detrimental effects on people. This is clear
for various reasons, such as they are short of nutrients compared to fresh food
and it deprives the opportunity to socialize with other family members.
